A rather interesting question...

Post by Bronze-Arm Sloth on 12.07.17 22:17

... i don't know, if it was already asked, but since the game is done on TCG site, which means, no more new English cards and so on, what do you think about it?

Would you like to have Duel Masters TCG being an active game such as Yugioh or Pokemon are, or do you take benefits from this, being a finished game?

I personally think it is better, though some OCG further cards are really cool and would have been cool additions in TCG decks, but also this would have killed the whole lasting balance the game had.
Since the game is done, the options for creating new deckideas or strategies is really massive, though the cardpool is rather limited to a fix count.

Let's see what you all TCG players, as well as OCG players think of this?
Let's start a new discussion round!

On one hand, I really would like to have TCG continued. On the other hand, I'd prefer to have something like DM-18 Best Challenger set released using the best cards through DM-01 to DM-12 to make TCG more accessible. The cards are some what cumbersome to play.

If TCG would be continued after DM-12, it would create a third major format besides legacy-TCG and OCG. I wouldn't mind that so much.

I love TCG because it's not continued and is pretty stable. I love OCG because it's continued and is evolving. Both have their flaws but both have their benefits. That's why I keep on playing them both.

How do you play with japanese cards without been able to read it?
Do you put translations into the sleeves?
Imo this is annoying because you can't see the artwork at all :/

Japanese prints of sets DM-01 to DM-12 is very easy to play. I bet every duelist can remember most of these cards without reading it. Or if you move to play OCG there is TCO. While duel it shows cards in english.

Most of the people who play DM OCG, doesn't know any Japanese. In similar fashion, one doesn't need to know any English to be able to play DM TCG.

When you play, after a few games, you don't read the abilities of cards anymore but just simply remember them. And if you forget, you can always refer to DM wiki.

TCO has got faster, at lest when playing with people in the same country. OCTGN is great, but it's no good for OCG since it doesn't get updated that swiftly. TCO is pretty much up to date all the time.

Well, thats just your opinion boy...
Imo TCO sucks, the database is big, but the gameplay there sucks so much

I would love too see a third format which either includes the last block set if the phoenix saga DM13. There isn't any gamebreaking card in that set, tho. Galumta is in the hall of fame, but may only be that strong with additional later sets.
Personally i would love to see a format that goes up to DM 17 and include all cross gear stuff. But yes there are some cards that are restricted, like seventh tower, fairie gift, bajula soul, dandy eggplant, Paradise Aroma and older cards that becamed restricted or banned but it's hard to tell if that is really nescessary up to DM 18. We would have to test it out at least but i see balancing problems too indeed.

You can check the mentioned cards in the wikia if you like too (i hope the names are correct): http://duelmasters.wikia.com/wiki/Paradise_Aroma

I know these cards, when some would have been translated, i agree with you! Up to dm18 would have been kind of cool.
The balancing would work kind of, there are enough cards against cross gears in the sets as well, there would be a lot more deck combinations that would have been played, which are played actually in ocg

Of course it's my opinion, but it's based on facts. TCO has a way larger card database but that doesn't make OCTGN bad. OCTGN has automated gameplay, which makes it slower to get updates but the experience can be nicer. This doesn't make TCO irrelevant.

TCO is browser-based, which makes it easier to access and more players are thus using it. I like how things are automated on OCTGN, maybe I'll try it one day.

I'm not a big online duelist so I usually only play once or twice in a month or two.

For TCG players as me, octgn is the only way to play only, because we don't need all ocg cards at all Smile
You really miss something, you i better play online then never, it satisfies in some way

I mostly played online when I was just starting to play OCG, but after discovering relatively cheap ways of importing cards from Japan, me and my friend started to duel more face to face after building our dream decks in real life.

I agree, OCTGN is great for TCG. That said, I still end up playing TCG in TCO, since I'm not a frequent  online duelist anymore. Maybe time will come again. I contribute to the DM community in other ways, as for now.
