Mono Fire - How to do it?

Post by PatronSaint on 19.07.17 18:11

Hey all. I was considering making a Mono-Fire deck since Fire is my favorite of the civilizations. I was wondering if any of these ideas we're viable:
1. Human Rush with Armorloid support, since a number of Humans and Armorloid get benefits when the other race is around (i.e. Armored Walker Urherion), or get better with more creatures around (i.e. Dogarn, the Marauder)

2. Speed Attacker Rush - Rikabu, Magnus, Bazagazeal, Mykee... Stuff that comes in and hits fast, probably with evolution creatures to add extra punch.
3. Dragon Burn - Destruction spells to hopefully clear the way for Dragons and Wyverns. This would allow me to take advantage of Fire Birds to speed the dragons out there. It's also probably the ideal deck for Fists of Forever.

Thoughts?

Thanks again,

Humans and Armorloid just get boost benefits which is actually not worth it.

You gotta analyze the fire civilization a bit more.

Strengths are:
Cheap creatures
Many destruction spells
The ability of speed attacker

Weaknesses:
Absolutely no defense
Powerhouses are very expensive

Fire is more of a support civ, you can add destruction effects to control decks or build a strong rush deck.

Fists of Forever should not be played in mono fire, combine it with Rumble Gate or Relentless Blitz with Creatures that can attack untapped creatures.
But give your creatures support from other civs. When playing Fists, you lose hand advantage and if your field presence gets wrecked you sit there with nothing, so hand replenishments like water civ draw cards are a must run.

The most important advise i can give is, test your decks intensively and work around on them.
Always keep in mind while looking for cards that could fit in:
Do the cards really help your strategy?
Do the cards make your deck any better?
Do you really want to play the card, will you ever use it?

You can pm me, and I will enjoy helping you building on a mono fire. I can show you my working ones and show you the mistakes I have made in deckbuilding

Definitely more on the 2 option.

1, Urherion isn't worth it even with humans, or vice versa.
2, Magnus / Rikabu and the like are fine. Bazagazeal is way too costly for mono-fire though.
3, needs Water/Nature still.

You would generally want to just try and build Valborg. Err, I mean Valdios.

Like yami said, the only way is rush or you could be that one guy that runs Crisis Boulder control, whatever that shit is tho i would suggest that you keep anti blocker spells like meteor.

Lot's of great points here! Fire is a speedy anti-blocker civilization so it's best applied to rushes, especially when used alone. Dragonoids and Valdios mono fire rushes work pretty well.

You must forget that Urherion..

Hey all,

Thanks a bunch for the input! I've whipped up a preliminary deck list, with explanations for my choices. Here you go:

Creatures ( 30 ):

4x Deadly Fighter Braid Claw Classic 1-drop. Doesn't have speed attacker but a 1-drop speed attacker would be a bit too good IMO.
4x Rikabu, the Dismantler A baseline speed attacker. Comes in and hits things ASAP.
4x Pyrofighter Magnus Same as Rikabu, the downside is you have to pay for him multiple times. The upside to his downside is that your opponent has to have a blocker for him (or maybe rip a Terror Pit off a broken shield but that's less likely than them having a blocker) if they want him gone.
4x Hypersprint Warrior Uzesol Attacks as a 4000 power, but he won't live long. A good way to kill off opposing creatures though.
4x Bombat, General of Speed This guy is Magnus, but he costs more but doesn't have the drawback. Not sold on his inclusion, so I'd be interested if anyone had opinions on him.
4x Smash Warrior Stagrandu A real head-hunter. He'll likely only get one swing in but he can take out untapped creatures of up to 10000 power. The only strike against him is that he's useless against 2000-5000 power creatures.
2x Engineer Kipo decent Power to mana efficiency, and hinders our opponent if he dies. This is good since this deck operates better on low mana than most decks do.
2x Shock Trooper Mykee A nice removal effect, but given his cost I'm not sure about him either. Does anyone have any input on this fellow?
2x Rikabu's Screwdriver Not a speed attacker, but reasonably efficient blocker removal that may force your opponent to attack it back in order to stop it from activating multiple times.

Evolution Creatures ( 2 ):

2x Lava Walker Executo He may not be the best inclusion, but this deck runs 12 Dragonoids at the moment so his summoning restriction shouldn't be too hard to meet. Again, a card I'm open to input on.

Spells ( 8 ):

4x Comet Missile Cheap blocker removal that should hit most blockers you'll run across. And it's a shield trigger to boot!
4x Tornado Flame Trigger removal that can hit a lot of blockers as well, or a fair few non-blockers too.

Here are some cards I'm considering running:

Kamikaze, Chainsaw Warrior Inefficient as a creature, but if he lands in your shield zones, he could be good.
Brad's Cutter Same as Kamikaze.
Crisis Boulder For maximum lulz and who knows, it could make a difference.
Choya, the Unheeding This guy can force out a block without risk to himself, which is useful.
Migasa, Adept of Chaos This deck needs to break 5 shields fast, and a good way to do that is to make those weenies count by giving one double breaker.

I know he's bad, I was just using him as an example.

You don't actually need Mykee or that many Speedattackers.
As well Kipo does not fit in a mono fire.

Executo does nothing for your deck.
If you go for straight speedattacker rush, the 4+ ones are not good to run either. They come into game far too late.
As said, a rush deck (also mono red) can win until turn 6

Rikabu the Dismantler and Magnus are really enough as speed attackers.

To give you a tip:
Cavalry General Curatops and Stagrandu can be equipped by Magma Gazer or Colossus Boost, along with Fists of Forever, to wipe out the whole board and break two shields. If you run such engine, you don't even need much blocker removal.
Your deck seems to be thrown together too randomly without any knowledge of deckbuilding and what cards go together and harmoize in strategic aspects.

Have you tried the deck out yet? I bet it won't run as you expected, didn't it?

If you wanna play an Evo, try something that could help you out.
I play a mono red dragonoid rush, in it i use Executo, to boost Curatops and others to keep the field free, in yours i see no usage of it.

Well to be fair I haven't played Duel Masters since Survivors of the Megapocalypse came along, and I was super young then, so it sorta has been thrown together without any knowledge of deckbuilding. I've played a lot of YGO and MTG, so I guess my deck is being built with the deck building philosophy of those games in mind; I have no idea what cards in DM go together or harmonize. I'm not quite used to the Duel Masters dynamics yet (I'll PM you what I mean).

Thanks,

Magma Gazer and Colossus Boost are both pretty useless. I would use Furious Onslaught with Curatops and naturally other Dragonoids, as well.

In a nutshell, rush decks usually use only cards below the cost of 5. Using Rikabu and Pyrofighter is highly recommended (if you go for Dragonoid theme, then you might not not utilize Rikabu at all).

Migasa and Choya might sound okay on a paper but in reality they don't really make that much of a difference and I would suggest using Rikabu's Screwdriver and Gigio's Hammer instead. Both play well with Curatops and Stagrandu

You are soooo wrong here.
I guess you just have no idea how helpful these card could be, or never ran a deck that takes advantage of them.
Yeah Onslaught is ok, but even more expensive, and i would only suggest this card in decks about Dragonoids, since they have a tiny range of support.
I have build decks that run Gazer and Boost efficiently as part of the strategy and all opponents that faced the combos they are able to do with it, changed their mind about the cards.

ELTP is right. Normally you don't want to play a card that costs more than 4 mana in a rush deck. The longer the game with a rush goes on, the bigger chance gets of loosing it against control, removal stuff/ or even blockers if you run out of your blocker destroyer/bouncers (water). But that's kinda obvious Razz.
Mono Red is really risking strategy in TCG, normally you need at least 2 two civ rush deck to make it work really effectivly.
So if you want to keep going with this you should, like you already suggested, stick to either dragonoids, humans or a good mix of both. And add the cards eltp suggested. I see a Armored Fighter Urcan working in a mono red mixed rush deck but that was long ago, most likely it's too expensive and too slow, but maybe it's worth atleast a try.

You could maybe try a mono red armored/volcano dragon deck. It's risky to rely on cocco lupia and totto pipichi because they can be removed so easily. I play mono ocg armored dragon deck so i can't exactly tell if this would work (still you would need at least 2 colours). However you have the mighty Bajula on your side, so it's definitly worth the risk Wink.

Ucarn is suicide lol. If you try this guy in guy you must hope for getting not thrown back, if would work if it hd speedattacker though.

Would also don't run toto in a dragons deck, i would either rely on cocco.
Turn 3 cocco und turn 4 jagalzor is a simple and effective strategic part.

Then with melgars and bajula is kind of a good setup.
But run it with any other civ, mono red is really risky

There are lots of possibilities when building a mono fire deck. The key is how you combine your cards together. As said earlier, new combinations are learned every now and then.
